The University has ten schools and colleges at its main campus in Storrs, separate Schools of Law and Social Work in Hartford, five regional campuses throughout the state and Schools of Medicine and Dental Medicine at the UConn Health Center in Farmington. It is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).
American English Language Institute of the University of Connecticut has provided English instruction to more than 2,000 students from countries throughout the world, since 1991. UCAELI supports all students in pursuit of their goals through providing high quality instruction and access to the university's academic, professional, social and cultural resources. Participants:
Intensive English Program (IEP) – this program is for students who wish to concentrate on developing their English skills while experiencing the rich culture of a university community. All levels of instruction, beginner through advanced, are offered each session. A variety of activities and trips complement classroom work. Sessions are 15 weeks each fall and spring and 8 weeks during summer. Students have 22 hours of instruction per week. (Tuition: $2875 – 8 summer month, $1555 - 4 summer month)
Summer Intensive English PLUS. This 4-week program is designed for adult students (18 and up) who want to make the most of their short stay in the U.S. It combines daily English classes with an abundance of trips and activities. Inside and outside of the classroom, the focus is on language learning. Students may not notice how much they are learning because they will be having so much fun. Tuition: $1800
Evening English Courses for International Students (EECIS) are designed for international undergraduate and graduate students attending UCONN who need support in the areas of writing, oral communication and pronunciation. Classes meet twice a week in the evening for six weeks. Sessions are offered year-round. Courses offered by this program are: Academic Writing, Communicating on Campus, Focus on Pronunciation, TOEFL Preparation. Tuition: $350 (8 week courses)
Summer English Experienc. This action packed 3-week program for 13-17 year olds combines English study with sightseeing, recreation and cultural learning. Classroom work connects to students' experience of New England history and U.S. culture through a variety of activities and trips.
Professional and Vocational English Courses are designed to meet the needs of participants in their work or for their professional development. UCAELI has delivered professional English courses in Communication, Presentation and Pronunciation, and Vocational English. Courses are delivered at the workplace site.
Legal English Course. This course is designed for international students enrolled or admitted to a law program, prospective law students, or attorneys who are considering an LLM program. Tuition: $455 per student
