Asnuntuck Community College was established in 1969 by an act of the Connecticut state legislature as the twelfth institution in the Connecticut state community college system. Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield, Connecticut, is located just off Interstate 91, approximately halfway between the metropolitan areas of Springfield, Massachusetts, to the north and Hartford, Connecticut, to the south. Asnuntuck serves the north-central Connecticut communities of East Granby, East Windsor, Ellington, Enfield, Somers, Stafford Springs, Suffield, and Windsor Locks, and also draws students from south-central Massachusetts and the greater Hartford area.

Asnuntuck Community College offers students the opportunity to learn in a small classroom environment with skilled professors. Its student services division supports students in their academic attempts with academic advising, career and transfer counseling, disabilities counseling, access to free childcare, and a myriad of other support services. It offers extra curricular activities ranging from the poetry and art club to intramural basketball to student senate and legislative internships.

Within recent years, Asnuntuck has established its own radio station, WACC 107.7 FM and opened an on-site welding program.

Asnuntuck Community College offers English as a Second Language Program that consists of following courses:
     - English as a Second Language - 3 credits. - For students who are in the process of learning to speak, read, and write the English language. The student may begin work at a beginning, intermediate, or advanced level. Learning is accomplished at the student's pace through group and individualized work with instructors and peer tutors.
     - Integrated Skills III - 3 credits – academically-oriented language course for non-native students who have a simple knowledge of spoken and written English.  It emphasizes general academic vocabulary development, extensive reading and listening comprehension, sentence structure and grammar, and writing and speaking improvement using linguistically controlled materials and small group interaction.  
     - Writing and Reading IV - 3 credits, - helps students to strengthen their reading and writing skills.  Assigned readings (including whole works) and student writing form the basis of small group and class discussions.  Students focus on writing and rewriting essays to develop ideas, organization, clarity and accuracy in their writing.  Assessment will be based on portfolios in addition to quizzes and exams.  
     - Writing and Reading V - 3 credits. In this low advanced course, students continue to refine reading comprehension and writing proficiency.  Assigned readings (including whole works) as well as student writing provide the basis for small group and class discussions.  Through writing and rewriting essays, students work on organization, development of ideas, clarity, and the mechanics of effective writing.
