UF has a long history of established programs in international education, research and service. It is one of only 17 public, land-grant universities that belongs to the Association of American Universities. With more than 50,000 students, UF is now one of the largest universities in the nation.

UF has a 2,000-acre campus and more than 900 buildings (including 170 with classrooms and laboratories). The northeast corner of campus is listed as a Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places. The UF residence halls have a total capacity of some 7,500 students and the five family housing villages house more than 1,000 married and graduate students.

The English Language Institute (ELI) fosters the learning of the English language and the culture of the United States of America through its regularly scheduled intensive English program and its various other programs scheduled on demand.


Participants:

The University of Florida English Language Institute offers intensive English programs that prepare students for using English in the real world. Programs are based on over 50 years of second language teaching experience and research. The faculty and staff are committed to providing the quality service and education a student deserve. The School offers English instruction that prepares students for using English in an academic or professional context and the culture that is all around the person.

The ELI is a self-supporting program of the University of Florida. It is intended to serve speakers of other languages and is dedicated to offering superior instruction and best possible occasions for practice, using current materials and techniques, and providing an ideal learning environment.

Intensive English Program. The ELI offers English classes which are designed according to the latest research in teaching English as a second language. There is an opportunity to select programs that vary from 6-14 weeks in length, 23 to 33 hours per week. It provides classes in reading, writing, grammar, academic listening/speaking, preparation for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), and pronunciation.

Cultural Immersion Program provides the opportunity to practice spoken English and to learn about US culture; Social/cultural/sports activities; English language partner program; Organized trips each weekend.

Special Programs (Flexible Program). Program courses are designed upon request. Their goal is to design the program that can best fit your busy schedule. There is a need only to inform the school of your needs and desires; it will formulate the program that is best suited to student's needs. 

Full-Time Enrollment - 23 Hours Per Week: 10 hrs Reading/Writing; 8 hrs Listening/Speaking; 5 hrs Grammar 
Additional Courses (when enrollment allows) - 5 hrs TOEFL per week; 5 hrs Pronunciation per week for 6 weeks; 5 hrs GRE/GMAT Preparation; 5 hrs Vocabulary; 5 hrs English for Standardized Tests 

Tuition: 
$1,700 - $3,400 per course
