The University of Idaho opened its doors in 1892, when it welcomed about 40 students and one professor. Now enrolled students are from all 44 Idaho counties, 50 states and 73 countries, the total enrollment is 11,636. The University of Idaho is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, which recognizes our compliance with its standards of higher education.

American Language & Culture Program (ALCP) is an intensive language program designed to help students develop the skills necessary to succeed in academic programs in the United States or to further their professional careers. Since its beginning in 1992, the ALCP has helped hundreds of students improve their English language abilities. 

The ALCP offers 21 hours per week of in-class instruction. Students may begin an eight-week course of study in January, March, June, August, or October. The ALCP also provides short-term contract programs for groups of students or professionals.
