The Intensive English Program at Northern Kentucky University offers a full time course of study to develop students’ skills and confidence in English and to prepare them to live, study or work in an English language environment. The courses integrate skills and use authentic material to improve reading writing, speaking, and listening. Each student takes core courses and individualized or elective coursework which will be a minimum of 25 hours of coursework per week. Class work develops speaking and listening fluency, vocabulary, grammatical accuracy, and intelligibility. The small class sizes allow for flexibility and individualization to respond to student interest and particular needs. In addition to class work, students have access to a multimedia language laboratory and tutoring at no extra charge. Students receive a certificate of attendance upon successful completion of each level; they receive a level completion certificate. Each week, students will participate in an activity to enjoy the cultural resources in the area. Field trips have included visiting a local TV station, touring a castle, and exploring a cemetery.
The Semi- Intensive English Program at Northern Kentucky University offers a part time course of study to develop skills and confidence in English. Designed for busy adults, the program focuses on preparing you to live and work in an English speaking environment. Courses emphasize speaking and listening fluency, vocabulary, accuracy, and intelligibility. Classes will be held from 9AM- 12PM Monday - Friday and students should expect to be in class 15 hours a week. The small class sizes allow for flexibility and individualization to respond to student interest and particular needs. Students receive a certificate of attendance upon successful completion of each level; they receive a level completion certificate. Students studying on a student visa (F-1, J-1) are note eligible for this program because it is not a full time program.
