GFU was founded in in 1891. Today in enrolls around 3,382 students. The University offers bachelor’s degrees in more than 40 majors, degree-completion programs for working adults, five seminary degrees, and 11 master’s and doctoral degrees. Student to Faculty Ratio is 11:1. Average Class Size is 20.1. GFU is the only Christian university in the Pacific Northwest classified by U.S. News and World Report as a national university.

The English Language Institute offers three levels of instruction to fit the English proficiency of the students: beginning, intermediate, and advanced.

Students receive academic credit for their intensive English course work in the English Language Institute as follows: up to 16 credits for 100-level courses and up to 15 credits for 200-level courses. Up to six of these credits may be considered general education credit in the Global and Cultural Understanding category. Remaining credits count as elective credit toward a bachelor’s degree.
