Mesa Community College has a student population of almost 28,000 students enrolled at two comprehensive campuses – the Southern and Dobson campus and the Red Mountain Campus. The school is a leading provider of higher education in the rapidly growing Phoenix metropolitan area. MCC offers over 100 academic, career and certificate, and personal interest programs for students pursuing a wide range of educational goals. Approximately 62% of MCC’s students transfer to another college or university. In 2005 college received a recommendation for ten years of continued accreditation with no focus visits or monitoring reports.

Participants:

Mesa Community College offers an Intensive English as a Second Language (ESL) Program for students who need to improve their English skills. Courses range from intermediate training in Listening and Speaking to advanced instruction in Idiomatic English. Classes introducing international students to American history and culture are included. Participants are given placement tests for enrollment at the appropriate study level(s). A minimum Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score or proof of six years of English instruction is required for entry into the Program. Students successfully completing the Intensive English Program will then be admitted into regular academic programs at Mesa Community College.
