The University was established in 1914. USC consists of 14 degree-granting colleges and schools, which offers more than 350 degree programs. The school enrolls around 41,518 students.

English Programs for Internationals of the University of South Carolina is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA). EPI is a member of the Consortium of University and College Intensive English Programs (UCIEP) and the American Association of Intensive English Programs (AAIEP). The University of South Carolina is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the associate, bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees.

English Programs for Internationals (EPI) provides programs designed for students needing to improve their English for academic or professional reasons. In addition to the intensive English program, EPI offers short term programs for Graduate Studies and English for Foreign Students (ENFS), which provides three credit-bearing courses per semester for graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in University of South Carolina degree programs. EPI also develops curriculum according to the needs of a specific group or organization.
