Central Washington University

98926 400 E. University Way
(509) 963.1375

Central is located in the heart of Washington State in the beautiful city of Ellensburg. The CWU campus is less than two hours east of Seattle and three hours west of Spokane. With four distinct seasons, the area is perfect for those who love the outdoors.

With more than 100 majors and eleven pre-professional programs (Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Dietetics, Pre-Engineering, Pre-Law, Pre-Medicine, Pre-Nursing in Public Health, Pre-Occupational Therapy, Pre-Optometry, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Veterinary) at the undergraduate level, Central's General Education curriculum provides a basis for developing your specialized interests.

CWU enrolls nearly 10,505 students.

University English as a Second Language Program has five levels. There are four kinds of classes. For Levels 1-4, there is an Oral Communication class that teaches listening and speaking skills, a Block class which focuses on reading, writing and grammar skills, and an elective class. The elective classes  may include  TOEFL Preparation, TOEIC Preparation, English  through Movies or TV, Film-making, Vocabulary/idioms, Speaking Workshop, Business Communication, and Living in the USA. Level Five offers the visitation class in place of oral communication. In this class students attend an undergraduate CWU class as visitors and meet once a week with one of the UESL Program's teachers to discuss what you are learning. This helps them prepare for entering an undergraduate program at an American university.
