City University of Seattle was founded in 1973. Today it enrolls over 40,000 graduates. City University of Seattle (CityU) is incorporated in the state of Washington and is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. The University awards degrees and certificates at the undergraduate and graduate levels in dozens of academic fields, and offers a varied and extensive program of continuing education. City University of Seattle offers instruction in nearly twenty locations throughout the States of Washington and Hawaii, the Canadian Provinces of British Columbia and Alberta, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Greece, Romania, Slovakia, China, and Mexico.
City University of Seattle’s English as a Second Language (ESL) program is wholly dedicated to providing students with the necessary skills and confidence in English required for success in the university studies at the undergraduate or graduate level.
The ESL program is delivered at six levels from beginning to advanced. Once students have mastered the skills in one level, they progress to a higher level to ensure an appropriate learning pace and degree of difficulty. Most students complete one level per quarter; however, since individual students learn at a different rate, some students may skip or repeat levels.
Classes start at the beginning of October, January, March and July and are 10 weeks in length. As a full-time ESL student, a person will study 20 hours per week (4 hours per day, Monday through Friday) in class and any student can expect to spend an additional 2 hours on homework per class hour. All of the instructors have graduate degrees and years of successful teaching experience. ESL class sizes are kept under 15 students to maximize the opportunity for student participation. After successfully completing the ESL program, students may pursue City University of Seattle’s Language Assisted MBA programs or Bachelor programs without any further language testing.
Total Cost per 10-week course (including health insurance and fees): $2,672.
