North Idaho College was founded nearly 75 years ago. North Idaho College is committed to student success, teaching excellence, and lifelong learning. Total enrollment to NIC – 4,856. Average class size – 18. The school offers 3,765 College Transfer Programs and 558 Professional-Technical Programs.

North Idaho College’s Intensive English Language Program (IELP) is a small, intensive program with an average of eight students per teacher, offering international students a perfect environment to learn English. IELP students spend 18 –22 hours a week in the classroom and language lab. Program graduates can enter regular academic courses at NIC without taking the TOEFL.

ELP offers two special features to its students. First, all IELP students meet one-on-one with their writing instructor to review and discuss the grammar and style of their written assignments. This is important because good writing skills are essential in academic classes and in overseas employment that requires knowledge of English. Second, IELP Advanced students attend an academic class at NIC where they are able to participate in discussions and form friendships with American students.
