The University of Montana was founded in 1893. The total enrollment of the school is 13,858. Regionally accredited by Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges. Professional schools and departments are approved by specialized accrediting organizations.

Participants:

English Language Institute (ELI) serves international students with limited English proficiency who wish to improve their English language and academic skills in order to pursue studies at The University of Montana or another institution of higher education. ELI also welcomes any non-native speaker of English. At the ELI, students are in class for 20 hours a week, 16 weeks. There are 5 levels of instruction from beginning to advanced level. Students' classes will include the study of speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary development, cross cultural issues and integrated skills. The goal of all the classes is to ultimately prepare students for university level studies. See the class descriptions for more details. 

The school also offers a Bridge Program which gives students an opportunity to register for one University of Montana 100-level credit-bearing courses at the same time that they are enrolled in ELI.  In support of their university classes, Bridge-Program participants attend ELI’s UM Advisory class.
