JBC was founded in 1989. The School is authorized by the U.S. Government to issue I-20 Forms for the F-1 (student) visa. JBC provides a wide range of courses for students of both English and Japanese. All levels of English as a Second Language (ESL) and Japanese as a Second Language (JSL) courses are offered.

Participants:

English Language Courses. This curriculum offers 6 levels of instruction, from Basic to Advanced. It concentrates on preparing students in all language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It is intended to help students communicate effectively in English. Once the student completes 6 courses of instructional materials successfully they will be able to communicate at the workplace, school, or in any other social setting.

Business English. Through this course, Students acquire the ability to understand and properly utilize standard business and professional vocabulary and concepts. It also serves students already in business careers who need to improve their language or behavioral professionalism in a business setting. The course reviews informal language such as acronyms and idioms, and business skills such as marketing, advertising, negotiations, resume writing, and interviewing. The course emphasis is on international business English; simultaneously, it acquaints the students with the American business practices and the entrepreneurial spirit. 

iBT TOEFL is designed to help students achieve the necessary TOEFL score to pursue their chosen future. It prepares students to take the TOEFL iBT test, provides a comprehensive review of all the components needed for the TOEFL test, such as written structures (grammar), reading comprehension, listening comprehension, writing, and speaking; provides a thorough discussion of the fundamental techniques and test-taking skills needed for success on the exam. Students are given free access to the computer lab to do a complete practice TOEFL test. 

Plus English

English plus Arts gives an opportunity to enhance students English studies with part-time courses in dance, vocals, music, filmmaking, acting, Tae Kwon Do (Martial Arts), painting and modeling at some of the most respected cultural and artistic organizations in New York City and New Jersey. The English Plus Arts program enables students to explore their creative aspirations, learn from some of the best teachers, and meet other international students who share their cultural interests. 

English plus Internship is designed to combine language training with on-the-job exposure to American professional practices. Internships are opportunities for the practical application of the skills acquired in the language-training portion of the program. 

English for English Teachers from Overseas is specifically designed for English teachers from non-English speaking countries. It includes English language classes, seminars on American society, traditions, and cultural events, and activities with academic peers in the United States.
