WCC was founded in 1957. Today, the College enrolls 2,988 students (all undergraduate). It offeres less than one year certificate, one but less than two years certificate, associate's degrees. WCC is accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges.

ESL classes are offered both on campus and at off-campus sites to adults with English as their second language.  ESL classes focus on group conversation, grammar and writing instruction, and reading comprehension.  Over 30 countries have been represented in WCC's Basic Skills ESL program.
