Salve Regina College was established in 1934. The university offers Associate, Baccalaureate, and Master's degrees, the Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study, and the Ph.D. in Humanities. Salve Regina enrolls 2,600 men and women from 42 states and 17 nations. The English as a Second Language (ESL) program is designed for degreeseeking students who have scored below a 550 (213 computer based equivalent) on the TOEFL examination. The ESL focus is on providing both language and cultural support for success in academic and student life. Small class sizes and a committed faculty help create a friendly environment that promotes active learning as well as the self-confidence required for fluency. The ESL program emphasizes participation in social, cultural and educational events around the campus community, which helps to ease the sometimes-difficult transition into American culture. All Salve Regina University students are required to complete coursework in English and in a Modern Language.

- Writing for the English as a Second Language Student (3 credits)
