The College enrolls about 54,000 students each year inthousands of classes during the day, evenings, weekends and online.. In average classroom/lab student-to-teacher ratio is 18:1. MATC offers 200 degree, diploma, certificate and apprenticeship programs at four campuses.

Participants:

English as a Second Language Program - prepares students for postsecondary courses and programs and helps them to learn English so they may function more effectively at work, at home and in the community. ESL students learn in a variety of ways: group, individualized, computer-assisted language learning, Weekend College and online. A student may choose courses in oral language development, vocabulary improvement, reading and writing skills, pre-employment English, and computer skills. They can also get help in preparing for citizenship. Outreach programs for business and industry are available as well.

The Program provides:
- Six levels of instruction ranging from beginning literacy to high advanced
- Day classes, evening classes and a Saturday morning workshop
- Short- or long-term programs
- Instruction in developing communication skills such as reading, writing and speaking
- Crossover instruction for technical programs
- Vocational ESL
- Computer-assisted instruction
- ESL classes at Community-Based Organizations
- Online Instruction
- Field trips to acquaint students with the Milwaukee area
- Student organizations
- Academic advising
