HFCC offers Associate Degrees and certificate programs in a wide variety of liberal arts, science, fine arts, culinary arts and health science disciplines. Students may choose from more than 100 programs that can move them directly into the workforce or choose a university transfer program to earn transfer credits for the second half of the bachelor's degree.

The College guarantees that credits earned at their institution will be fully accepted in transfer to four-year colleges. Besides, it guarantees to refund all tuition increases to any student who graduates within four years of starting a program.

HFCC has several intercollegiate sports teams, including men's baseball, basketball and golf and women's basketball, softball and volleyball. It also has a selection of seventeen intramural teams.

As a public institution, the school gets support from several sources: state appropriations, student tuition and fees, local Dearborn School District property taxes, auxiliary activities, and both state and local grants.

Through year-round instruction, the English Language Institute (ELI ) curriculum helps to expedite the learning and language development of foreign students by offering them five four-hour days of intensive language study five days a week or a 2 Ѕ hour evening session, four days a week. All classes are limited to fifteen students. The ELI has year-round programs with open enrollment and a tuition that is noticeably lower than that of similar programs in the Detroit area. ELI teachers are highly qualified, enthusiastic, and supportive of student needs and time restraints.
