Texas A&M University-Kingsville enrolls around 6,000 students from South Texas and more than 35 states and 43 countries. It offers 56 bachelor's degrees in 52 fields of study and 60 graduate degrees in 38 areas in five colleges: Agriculture and Human Sciences, Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education and Engineering. The university is accredited by the Commission of Colleges of the Southern Association of College and Schools to award bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees.

The English Language Program is designed for students, business people, and professionals to develop English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, grammar and writing. The Program provides intensive oral and written communicative instruction and practices to facilitate a smooth transition into university academic programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The University and community environment provides students with excellent opportunities to practice English language skills and to engage in multi-cultural experiences. 

The curriculum of the Intensive English Program features strong academic content and activities in order to prepare prospective students for university programs and to promote their general professional English skills. The areas of conversation, vocabulary, pronunciation, academic listening, note taking, grammar, speech presentation, academic reading, essay writing, and research writing are covered in classroom instruction. The language laboratory programs re-enforce reading comprehension, vocabulary, listening, pronunciation, and conversational skills.
