Jefferson Medical College was founded in 1824. Jefferson College of Health Sciences is an independent, private, coeducational, health sciences college located in Downtown Roanoke, Virginia, U.S.A. Jefferson College of Health Sciences has 15 majors in four academic departments: Department of Community Health Sciences; Department of Nursing; Department of Arts and Sciences; Department of Rehabilitation and Wellness.

Participants:

English as a Second Language (8-16 credits) . The English as a Second Language Certificate of Proficiency assists non-English speaking members of the Jefferson community in attaining levels of English proficiency that are adequate to support their professional and work-related needs and thereby enhance their mobility within Jefferson and the larger community. The program is designed to help students develop functional ability in English in both receptive (listening and reading) and productive (speaking and writing) skills. The curriculum addresses instruction in all four of these skills. The certificate is awarded upon achievement of required language competencies in these skills at the advanced level. Classes are offered in the introductory, intermediate and advanced levels in speaking/listening and reading/writing.  Eligible Jefferson employees can use their tuition benefit to take these classes.
