CSI was founded in 1976. CSI is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. College programs in the liberal arts and sciences and professional studies lead to bachelor’s and associate’s degrees. The master’s degree is awarded in 13 professional and liberal arts and sciences fields of study. CSI participates in doctoral programs of the City University Graduate School and University Center in Biology, Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics, and Psychology.

College academic year follows a two-semester pattern, with a separate summer session. Classes are scheduled days, evenings, and weekends. There is an extensive Continuing Education program and off-campus courses with and without credit.

The College participates in the CUNY Honors College: University Scholars Program. Students who have been accepted into the CUNY Honors Program will participate simultaneously in the Honors Colleges of CSI and the University.


Participants:

The English Language Institute offers intensive English instruction for international students and professionals. The program is comprehensive. It covers all aspects of the language, including speaking, listening, reading and writing. The focus is on developing the facility and confidence needed in academic, professional and social situations.

The College is set on a large campus with woodlands and open spaces in Staten Island. Its attractive facilities include technologically advanced laboratories, a sports and recreation center and a center for the performing and creative arts.

Program Features: 20 hours of classroom instruction per week; specialized workshops are available, TOEFL preparation, highly qualified instructors, small classes and as a result - personal attention, introduction to U.S. life, housing assistance, field trips to New York City cultural institutions and events, facilitated admission into the College of Staten Island. The English Language Institute is a member of the American Association of Intensive English Programs (AAIEP).

Tuition
14-week sessions typically cost $3,000 and begin in February and September.
9-week sessions typically cost $2,000 begin in March, June and October.
