Lehman College was established in 1968. LC enrolls over 10,000 students. It offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in the professions, science, liberal arts and education are offered in more than 90 programs. There are 337 full-time faculty. The average class size is 19.

Lehman College is accedited by Board of Regents, University of the State of New York; Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools; Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education; Association of University Programs in Health Administration; American Chemical Society; Professional State Accreditation in Teaching; the National League for Nursing; American Speech Language Hearing Association; National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education; and the Council on Social Work Education.

Full-time ESL. The full-time ESL program offers a complete course of study in English instruction. The program has a unique, comprehensive format that uses a personalized approach to learning. Lessons are taught both inside the classroom and through outside special activities. Classes meet over 20 hours per week during a daytime schedule. Students may attend two 7-week terms in the fall and/or spring or a 7-week intensive term in the Summer. All classes are conducted in English. The program is specially tailored to meet the needs of international students. Students enrolled in the full-time program meet the requirements of eligibility for international students with F-1 visas. It is important to know that students without F-1 visas are also invited to enroll. The classes are divided into different levels of English: beginning, intermediate and advanced.

The part-time ESL program exists to meet the varied needs of our students. It serves to offer convenience, flexible hours and affordable cost. The program is comprised of individual courses that cover the full range of English language study. Classes cover specialized English vocabulary, conversational topics, accent reduction, as well as reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. A certificate is awarded upon the successful completion of each class. All classes are conducted in English.Also, private ESL lessons are available to those who prefer one-on-one instruction. Part-time students have the freedom to choose the type and number of classes that they need.
