English Language Institute was created for non-native speakers of English who wish to improve their English language skills for professional purposes or to meet college entrance requirements. Students are generally 18 years or older, but we also accept high school students who obtain prior approval.
The Institute offers several types of courses at the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. It offers an evaluation test to help assess and place the student in the appropriate class. When a student registers, the evaluation test is scheduled.
The interactive curriculum helps students build skills in conversation, role-playing and classroom presentation as well as vocabulary, listening and pronunciation. Upon completion of a class, Long Island University Continuing Education Program at Southampton College issues an official certificate of achievement in the student’s name.
There is an additional TOEFL course offered, with a tuition discount for enrollees in the Intensive English Program. Books can be purchased through the web or order the first day of class through the instructor.
Intensive English Language Program. An intensive course which includes instruction in reading, writing, conversation and grammar. Through our unique evaluation skills placement test, students are placed in beginner, intermediate or advanced levels.
40-Hour Program. This program is a condensed version of the Intensive English Language Program. It is structured to meet the needs of students who work and have a limited amount of time available to study. Classes are divided into beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
