Kingsborough Community College was founded in 1963. The college enrolls approximately 30,000 students per year. KCC offers a wide range of credit and non-credit courses in the liberal arts and career education, as well as a number of specialized programs. Kingsborough is fully accredited and approved by the Commission of Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.


Participants:

Full-Time Day Intensive English as a Second Language Course: 144 Hours of Instruction. Before you start the program, you will take the standardized Michigan placement exam (100 questions/60 minutes) and write an essay (you are allotted 60 minutes) to determine if you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced learner. On the first day of class, your instructor will evaluate you further to confirm correct placement. You must be at least 18 years old to register. The Program includes: Certificate of Attendance (90%); a valid ID card (provides access to pool, gym, library, computer labs and other campus facilities); 24 hours per week, for 6 weeks; assistance for New York colleges admission; trips and events; TOEFL practice; the issuing of I-20s to qualified students; academic preparation for university-bound students. The classes are Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 am-3:00 pm.

Evening and Weekend Programs:
TOEFL: Preparation for the Test of English as a Foreign Language. For advanced English as a Second Language students, this course focuses on the TOEFL exam, a requirement for graduates of secondary schools in foreign nations whose first language is not English and who wish to apply for admission to colleges and universities nationwide. Through a combination of classroom activities, home assignments, and listening comprehension exercises, you will concentrate on examination content, and learn strategies for test taking.

English as a Second Language. The Program provides: placement in classes at the level needed; qualified and experienced instructors; practice in listening and speaking, as well as reading and writing; 3 hours of computer instruction (Level 3-8); interesting instructional content designed for all adults; this program works: More than sixty-five hundred (6,500) adults improved their English skills last year.
