        Foothill College is a community college located in Los Altos Hills, California and is part of the Foothill-De Anza Community College District. It was founded on January 15, 1957 by Founding Superintendent and President Dr. Calvin C. Flint.
Foothill’s reputation for excellence has been earned by its success in preparing students to transfer, in preparing them to enter a variety of top careers and in offering professional training and lifelong learning opportunities to its community.
The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Foothill is also accredited by the American Dental Association Council of Dental Education, American Medical Association Council of Medical Education and Federal Aviation Administration.

        The ESL Department at Foothill College offers a variety of courses at six levels for non-native speakers of English, both resident and international students (international students have F-1 visas). Level 1 is for students who already speak English with conversational ability. Students who have never studied English or do not speak English with conversational ability should enroll in ESL courses offered by the Adult Education departments of their local high school districts.The highest level composition course meets the California State University General Education Requirements for Communication in the English Language.
