Humboldt State University (HSU) is the northernmost campus of the California State University system, located in Arcata within Humboldt County, California, USA. The main campus, nestled at the edge of a coast redwood forest, is situated on Preston hill overlooking Arcata and with commanding views of Humboldt Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Humboldt State Normal School was established as a teacher's college on June 16, 1913, by then-California Governor Hiram Johnson.
 
The school was founded in 1913. There are 48 degree majors, 86 minors, 12 graduate programs, 21 credential programs, and several certificates offered by Humboldt State University. Total amount of students enrolled is 7,800.

English as a Second Language
Program is designed for students planning to enter an American college or university, and for professionals or visitors who need improvement in English. When students arrive, they are placed in the appropriate level of instruction according to their abilities. Advanced students have the opportunity to enroll in regular university classes in August, January, or during the summer term. 

Fees for each 8-week session are: tuition, $1,760; and student health insurance, $61.
