The University attracts the best and brightest students from around Alabama, the nation, and 109 countries around the globe. It enrolls more than 16,000 students. The student body is nearly 69 percent full-time, and more than 60 percent of freshmen live on campus. The average ACT score of entering students continues to trend upward, currently at 24.3, consistently besting state and national averages.

The UAB School of Education is home to a diverse group of faculty members with varied backgrounds in education and administration. In addition to the full-time faculty in the three academic departments, the school also calls on area educators to support instruction as adjunct faculty. The faculty and staff are dedicated to the development of exemplary educators and administrators.

The English Language and Culture Institute offers General English, Academic English, and Scientific English courses. Some of the courses are credit classes with the University of Alabama at Birmingham while others are available for members of the community. We are currently developing a full-time Intensive English Program (IEP) for students who want to matriculate into the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
