MPC students receive priority consideration for transfer admission to the 10 University of California (UC) and 23 California State University (CSU) campuses (90% of international students transfer into the third year of bachelor's degree programs). The college offers courses to prepare students for transfer to four-year institutions, to prepare for the workplace, to update work skills or prepare for a new career, to gain a general education, and to improve basic skills in mathematics, reading, writing and science. 

Monterey Peninsula College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and the U.S. Department of Education.


Participants:

English for Professionals (CLS) program offers specially designed intensive one-on-one and small group courses for professionals and executives seeking focused, short and long-term English study related to their field of work.

The English as a Second Language Program (ESL) at Monterey Peninsula College offers courses for international and resident students. The ESL program has six levels of instruction from intensive beginning courses to university level advanced courses.

Daytime and evening classes are offered on the main campus in Monterey as well as Seaside and Marina locations. On the main campus, students will also have access to the ESL Center, where they can work with tutors and instructors.
The ESL faculty and staff look forward to working with students at MPC.

Core program courses are: Independent Self-Study in English; Computer Lab: Reading/Vocabulary; Computer Lab: Grammar and Writing; Computer Lab: Listening and Pronunciation.
