USC enrolls more international students than any other U.S. university and offers extensive opportunities for internships and study abroad. The USC Language Academy offers a unique university experience through high-quality, year-round English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction for academic and professional preparation. The mission of the USC Language Academy is to help students rapidly improve their English skills through a rigorous program of study, campus involvement and cultural and educational activities. The Language Academy is part of the University of Southern California, one of the most prestigious private research universities in the U.S. Academy students enjoy full access to campus facilities, including USC's excellent libraries, computer rooms, housing, dining, recreational and medical facilities.

The Academy approach is designed to help students develop the academic English skills they need for the university classroom as well as the practical English they need for real-life situations. F-1 international student  may take a variety of courses and workshops for a minimum of 21 hours of instruction per week.
