Academics

California State University in Northridge with its nine colleges offers 64 baccalaureate degrees, 52 master's degrees, 55 teaching credential programs in the field of education, and various opportunities in extended learning and other special programs.

Athletics

The Cal State Northridge Intramural Program has sports leagues for all skill levels- novice to elite. All students are welcome and encouraged to come out and participate. Th University has many leagues to join which include: men's, women's, co-ed, fraternity, sorority and clubs & organizations. The following sports are currently available: Basketball, Dodgeball, Flag Football, Soccer, Softball, Ultimate Frisbee, Volleyball and Water Polo.

Campus

Residence hall living offers convenience, accessibility and environment that is fun, welcoming, and supportive of students' academic work. There are places to eat and drink at both ends of campus and everywhere in between. The Marketplace, located in the Sierra Center, has an array of meal choices including pasta, sandwiches, pizza, salads, sushi and so on. In the Satellite Student Union, located in Campus Housing, students will find Geronimo's which is open seven days a week, all year round. In the University Student Union is the Pub Sports Grill where students can enjoy both a meal and maybe a game or two; subway is located in the USU too. The Matador Bookstore complex houses Burger King, Rice Garden Chinese Cookery, Kikka Sushi, South Side Pizza, Burrito Northridge, and Jamba Juice. Parking on campus requires a valid CSUN parking permit. Students may purchase semester and annual parking permits on-line via the campus Portal, at the Department of Police Services, or University Cash Services located in Bayramian Hall. There is a free shuttle between the CSUN campus and the Northridge Metrolink Station.

Facilities

The CSU, Northridge's Oviatt Library provides educational, cultural and information services and resources to the students and faculty. The library has 234,710 square foot state-of-the-art facility. It holds a physical collection containing 1.4 million volumes (over 1.1 million are books and over 250,000 bound periodical volumes). The library subscribes to 34,500 online journals, around 1,600 print journals, 200 online databases and 154,000 ebooks. Also, it has more than 14,100 sound recordings, 12,700 film and video recordings and over 60,000 pictures and other graphic materials. The microform collection contains 3.17 million pieces. The manuscript and archives collection exceeds 4,200 linear feet of materials, with nearly 33,300 items housed in Special Collections. During Fall and Spring semesters, the building is open 90 hours a week. The Library provides access to electronic information 24 hours a day. The University offers 175 multipurpose computer workstations, 3 computer-equipped library instruction labs with a total of 100 computers, and 150 computer workstations, in various library locations. There are over 1,600 seats for in house study.

Health & Safety

Klotz Student Health Center physicians are experts in college health who are board certified in Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Neurology, Rheumatology, Head and Neck Surgery, Urology, Orthopedics, Travel Medicine and Sports Medicine. Besides, Student Health Center health care providers include specialists in Physical Therapy, Massage Therapy, Chiropractic, Optometry, Dentistry, Podiatry, and Women's and Men's Health. Also, it has an x-ray technician, three laboratory technicians and two pharmacists. The University Police Department (a Division of the Department of Public Safety) provides 24-hour patrol of the university property, buildings, parking lots and housing facilities. Besides, the university provides students with a security escort for those that prefer to be accompanied by someone to their next class or to their car at night time.

Students

At Cal State Northridge students can join more than 250 clubs and organizations of all kinds: pre-professional college based (such as CSUN National Student Speech, Hearing, Language Association, Multicultural Psychology Association, and Construction Management Association of America), cultural (MEChA and the Armenian Student Association), religious (such as Chabad Jewish Student Center and the Get Real, Sikh Awareness Association), special interest (such as Deaf CSUNians, CSUN Cat People and CSUN Co-Op Network, CSUN Anime, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Alliance), honorary (such as National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Tau Beta Pi [National Engineering Honorary]) recreational (Water-ski and Wake Board, Matadancer Hip Hop Team) and university programs (such as CSUN Helpline, Women's Resource Center). Students also may join fraternities and sororities.

Alumni & Post-Grad

Cal State Northridge Alumni Association includes over 165,000 alumni. Alumni members receive discounts from local vendors and campus services, access to the Oviatt Library and an annual subscription to the Northridge Magazine. The Alumni Association sponsors several student scholarships and participation in academic conferences and competitions, recognition for outstanding alumni achievement, alumni networking opportunities and mixers, cultural programming, legislative advocacy on behalf of higher education and so much more.

Jobs & Internship

University Career Center offers career services to all enrolled students who register. it offers students to take vocational assessments learn about internships, select part and full time jobs online, participate in campus interviews, meet industry professionals at the career events and job fairs, attend workshops to help students find their calling and prepare for work - from deciding to resume writing to interviewing.
