Alvernia University Reading Campus provides Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Associate of Science and Certificate programs, over 50 programs of study in both liberal arts and professional programs. This programs range from Accounting to Addictions Studies, from Forensic Science to Political Science.


Alvernia competes under the protection of the National Collegiate Athletic Association as well as in the Eastern College Athletic Conference . The Crusaders compete at the Division III level, the largest competing level of the NCAA. Students are free choose from Flag Football, 3-on-3 Basketball, Co-Ed Inner Tube Water Polo, 5-on-5 Basketball, Table Tennis, Deck Hockey, Wiffleball, Volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee, 6-on-6 Soccer, Extramurals, IAB Rafting Trip.


Alvernia University maintains five distinctive kinds of residential living-learning environments. The University offers housing to full-time matriculated single students only. Alvernia University offers a full repertoire of catering services as part of Campus Dining Program. Campus is committed to offering students a wide variety of dining options at every meal. The main dining hall, located on the first floor of the Student Center; also there are Kestrel Cafe, Courtside Cafe, Upland Center Cafe.


Library has over 100,000 print, audiovisual, and computer materials; approximately 900 periodicals and 400 current subscriptions. Library supports Polish-American and Italian-American cultural centers. Computer labs and classrooms are available for current students throughout the campus. Wireless internet access is also being installed in every building.

Located in the Center for Student Life the Multicultural Initiatives Office welcomes, celebrates and supports students from all backgrounds. Alvernia promotes understanding, unity and appreciation of the growing diversity of the campus, affirming the inherent value and dignity of each person, regardless of race, gender differences, national origin or religion. Black Student Union/Ethnic Awareness Society and Multicultural Affairs Committee are always ready to welcome new members. AU has more than 50 student groups and organizations such as intramural and intercollegiate sports, academic clubs, honor societies, student government, and faith-based, arts, environmental, and service clubs.


For those students who are searching for off-campus housing there are several options to choose:Adrienne's Inn at Centre Park, Alpenhof Guesthouse, Bed & Breakfast on the Park, Overlook Mansion Bed & Breakfast, Stirling Guest Hotel, Comfort Inn Reading, Days Inn, Econo Lodge of Reading, Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites, Wyndham Historic Hotel. Evening time is good for city attractions, such as Mimmo's Restaurant & Pizzeria, Upland Cafe, Canal Street Pub & Restaurant, Third and Spruce Cafe, Jimmie Kramer's Peanut Bar Restaurant, Judy's on Cherry, Chef Alan's American Bistro, T.G.I. Friday's, Panda Heaven, Alebrije Mexican Restaurant, Red Lobster, Old Country Buffet, Applebee's Bar and Grill, Buca di Beppo Italian Resturant, Toscani - Wood - Fire - Grill, Austin's Restaurant and Bar and some others.

Alvernia University Career Services Office is staffed by career development professionals which are always ready to assist students and alumni in every phases of occupational exploration, career planning, and job seeking. Internships provide students with practical knowledge of professional environments within their majors, offer networking opportunities, and the chance to clarify their choice of major. It is one of the best ways to gain work experience required by employers in a competitive job market. Students may start an internship the summer beginning the junior year.
