Suffolk County Community College's Ammerman Campus offers a wide array of programs in the liberal arts and sciences, visual and performing arts, engineering and computer sciences, as well as technological training in electronics, telecommunications, computers, drafting and construction. The new state-of-the-art automotive training facility houses the Automotive Service Specialist program. Physical Therapist Assistant, Nursing, Human Services and American Sign Language are among some of the highly regarded health career programs that offer students clinical training. Fully equipped campus studio provides hands-on experience for the Radio and Television Production students. Fitness Specialist majors work with the most up-to-date exercise training equipment. Students at the campus are also offered a full spectrum of programs in business, accounting and paralegal studies with opportunities for credit-bearing internships.


Athletic program is a vital component of the College's co-curricular offerings. The Suffolk County Community College is a member of Region 15 of the National Junior College Athletic Association. To compete in athletics, a student must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 credits. The intramural programs are offered by the Director of Athletics. Students (both male and female) may become members of the basketball, baseball, golf, bowling, soccer, tennis, volleyball, swimming team and more.


SCCC does not provide its students with housing opportunity. It is required that students make their own living arrangement prior to arrival. As for the parking services students should register their motor vehicles, including motorcycles, with the College. In order to park on College property all students, faculty, staff and administrators must have a valid parking permits. Parking permits are transferable to other vehicles. The Campus is ready to provide its students with a food service during the academic year when classes are in session. Ammerman Campus offers breakfast, lunch and dinner for its students through Babylon Student Center Cafeteria.


At campus there are Computer Stations where students have an opportunity to use 8 computers for a quick glance at email or the Web. Besides the Library is also available on campus for students' use. Here students may find numerous books and media, electronic books, periodicals, articles and many more. Internet connection is also available in the library. Radio and Television Production students and Fitness Specialist majors may benefit from using a fully equipped campus studio and up-to-date exercise training equipment which provide hands-on experience.

Health & Safety

The Campus has a Health Services Office which is staffed by registered nurses available to consult with students concerning matters of personal health. Accidents and illnesses occurring on campus should be reported to the campus nurse. College also retains a medical doctor as consultant to the Health Services Office. The services offered by the Health Services Office include the following: -emergency first aid and referral for injuries -treatment and referral for acute illnesses -personal health counseling -referrals to community services and agencies -accident and health insurance information -preventative health care brochures and information -immunization information, certification, and free clinics -special parking requests -medical clearance for students in health careers programs Suffolk County Community College provides its students with the information on campus crime statistics, safety awareness, crime prevention, sexual assault, alcohol and drug education, and sexual harassment that is available on the College's Web site. Crime statistics for SCCC is also available on the U.S. Department of Education Web site.


The SCCC enrolls a diverse group of students with a broad range of abilities, interests, ages and cultural backgrounds. The total student body counts 24,560 students. At Ammerman Campus there are 14,491 students with 7,728 of them studying full-time and 6,763 - part-time. Female students constitute 55% of all students while the percentage of male students is 45%. There are almost 74% of students aged 18-24 and 26% of students aged 25 and over. As for ethnic diversity at SCCC there are 63,5% of white students, 7% of black students, 14,8% of Hispanic, 2,7% of Asian Pasific, 3% of American Indian and 11,7% of other ethnics. At Campus students are encouraged to participate in student organizations programs, campus governance and numerous student life programs all of which serve to develop leadership skills, an awareness of civic responsibility, and social and cultural understanding. Students may participate in musical performances, art exhibits, films, family activities, lectures, workshops, trips and symposia and others. Students may also take part in Multicultural Affairs which are aimed at fostering an atmosphere of pluralism where diversity is respected and celebrated. Multicultural Affairs offers an exciting array of co-curricular activities that are designed to recognize the unique contributions of the various cultural, ethnic, gender, religious and social groups in our society. Students of Ammerman Campus may become members of the following clubs, alliances and associations: African American Student Union, Asian Culture Club, Gay Straight Alliance, Italian Club, Latinos del Mundo, Muslim Student Association, Spanish Club, Women's Club and more. Students are encouraged to take full advantage of these activities, which include special programs, holiday celebrations, workshops, field trips, speakers, cultural displays, student organizations, and more.


As the Ammerman Campus of the Suffolk County Community College does not provide its students with on-campus housing options, students must find off-campus housing opportunities by themselves. Alumni & Post-Grad

Alumni of Suffolk County Community College have now an opportunity to access the Alumni Community. Here they may find friends and classmates or update their information using the secure and password-protected alumni directory. Besides it is a chance to catch up with old friends and classmates or share news about family, career, and interests of alumni. The College offers alumni an opportunity to become members of forming groups of those who had math, chemistry emphasis and majors in Culinary Arts, Food Management and Hotel and Resort Management.

Jobs & Internship

The Campus provides enrolled students and alumni with Career services that helps them research and pursue career opportunities in local, regional and national markets. Career counselors and specialists of the Career Service Office assist students and alumni to understand the career search process, construct resumes and cover letters, hone interview techniques, and participate in internship and cooperative education experiences. Professionals of Career Service Office facilitate workshops throughout the semester in resume writing, interviewing, networking, career exploration and effective job search techniques.
