Michael J. Grant Campus in Brentwood provides a wide range of programs including Occupational Therapy Assisting, Nursing, Veterinary Science, Medical Records, Paralegal Studies, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood, Chemical Dependency Counseling, Business, Accounting, and Liberal Arts.


Suffolk County Community College is a member of Region 15 of the National Junior College Athletic Association and athletic program is a vital component of the College's co-curricular offerings. The programs are coordinated by the Director of Athletics and include offering for both men and women. Men may become members of baseball, basketball, bowling, cross-county, golf, lacrosse, soccer and tennis teams. As for women, they may participate in basketball, bowling, cross-county, soccer, softball, tennis, volleyball and swimming competitions and tournament. At modern fitness center at the Sports and Exhibition Complex on the Grant Campus there are a 25-meter 8-lane pool and state-of-the-art fitness equipment with cardiovascular conditioning, strength training and free weight equipment. Health Club offers free water aerobics and beginner swimming lessons with membership. Students also use an outdoor track and eight tennis courts, as well as locker rooms, saunas and showers.


Suffolk County Community College does not provide its students with housing opportunity. Students are recommended to make their own living arrangement prior to arrival. All motor vehicles on the campus, including motorcycles, must be registered with the College. And in order to park on College property students, faculty, staff and administrators must have a valid parking permit. Parking permits can be obtained on-line through the student or faculty/staff portal. All permits are transferable to other vehicles. Students are offered food services at Michael J. Grant Campus during the academic year when classes are in session. Food services are provided through Captree Commons Cafeteria which serves students with breakfast, lunch and dinner in open hours.


At campus students have an opportunity to use Library services where they may find numerous books and media, electronic books, periodicals, articles and many more. Internet connection is also available in the library. The Health, Sports and Education Center houses health and technology classes. Students also may use a coin-operated copy machine that is available in the Office of Campus Activities and Student Leadership Development.

Health & Safety

The campus has a Health Services Office staffed by registered nurses who work under the direction of a consulting physician. The services offered include the following: -emergency first aid and referral for injuries -treatment and referral for acute illnesses -personal health counseling -referrals to community services and agencies -accident and health insurance information -preventative health care brochures and information -immunization information, certification, and free clinics -special parking requests -medical clearance for students in health careers programs From time to time the College provides students with information on campus crime statistics, safety awareness, crime prevention, sexual assault, alcohol and drug education, and sexual harassment that is available on the College's Web site. Besides students may read the crime statistics for SCCC that is also available on the U.S. Department of Education Web site.


Suffolk County Community College enrolls a diverse group of students with a broad range of abilities, interests, ages and cultural backgrounds. The total number of students of the College is 24,560. The total number of students at Michael J. Grant Campus is 9,357 with 4,482 studying full-time and 4,875 studying part-time. 55% of all students are female students, the other 45% are male students. 18-24 year students constitute 74% of all students and other 26% are students aged 25 and over. At campus students have an opportunity to participate in student organizations programs, campus governance and numerous student life programs. These programs serve to develop leadership skills, an awareness of civic responsibility, and social and cultural understanding. Students may take part in musical performances, art exhibits, films, family activities, lectures, workshops, trips and symposia. Multicultural Affairs' goal is to foster an atmosphere of pluralism where diversity is respected and celebrated. Students at Michael J. Grant Campus have a chance to be members of African Peoples Association, Association of Latin American Students, Chinese Culture Clubs, Desi International, Educational Opportunity Program, Gay Straight Alliance, Haitian Students Association, International Club, Turkish American Student Association. Students are encouraged to take full advantage of these activities, which include special programs, holiday celebrations, workshops, field trips, speakers, cultural displays, student organizations, and more.


Students at Michael J. Grant Campus of Suffolk County Community College are not provided with on-campus housing opportunities. Due to this students should find some place to live near the campus prior to their arriving. The College does not offer assistance and information about off-campus housing options.

Alumni & Post-Grad

Using Suffolk County Community College Online Alumni Community alumni may update their information, search for friends and classmates or make new connections. Membership is exclusive and free, to alumni only. Alumni are also encouraged to members of groups that are forming now. If they had math or chemistry emphasis or a Culinary Arts, Food Management, or Hotel and Resort Management Major they are welcomed to join the group at the College.

Jobs & Internship

The campus offers professional career services for its current students and alumni in order to help them research and pursue career opportunities in local, regional and national markets. Career counselors and specialists assist students and alumni to understand the career search process, construct resumes and cover letters, hone interview techniques, and participate in internship and cooperative education experiences. All students have access to community businesses through the college's extensive networking strategies, made available through Suffolk's Job Connection, an online database of employment opportunities accessible on the College's Web site.
