Academics

Spertus College offers accredited graduate-level degree programs in areas that are critical to the Jewish and wider communities, including Jewish studies, leadership training, and nonprofit management. Programming at Spertus also includes cultural and continuing education offerings, such as lectures, seminars, exhibits, concerts, and films.

Campus

At Spertus College on-campus housing is not available. Students of the college may use public transport to get to the college. Parking places are also available near the institution but students should remember that parking rates are the subject to change. Some other nearby garages located along Wabash Avenue may also offer discounted rates to students - check with an attendant in advance. Spertus College does not currently have an on-site dining option. There are some neighborhood and kosher restaurants provided as a resource for Spertus students.

Facilities

The Asher Library at Spertus is one of North American’s largest Jewish libraries. The collection of the Library includes Jewish-interest fiction and non-fiction books, plus periodicals, films, and music from all over the world. Students and Spertus members have an opportunity to receive borrowing privileges, reference assistance, and online access to databases. Students and Spertus members may take books, videos and DVDs, CDs and audio books, periodicals from the library. Besides students can visit the Library online, where they can access thousands of full-text articles and books. Students have also computer access through the Asher Library and the Student Lounge. Students using these systems must follow The Institute’s Acceptable Use Policy, which is available from the College Administrative Offices. Photocopy machines are available for a fee in the Library Reference Room. There are no fax services available to non-employees of Spertus.

Health & Safety

From time to time, the College Administrative Offices posts and sends to students results of the Crime Statistics Survey that details any crimes reported as occurring on campus. The survey is posted on the 7th floor in the Student Lounge. All students should report crimes to the Front Desk Security station at the 1st floor entrance and to the College Administrative Offices. In case of an emergency requiring evacuation from the building, an Evacuation Plan is posted on each floor at the elevators. In case of an emergency, use the stairs and not the elevators. Students are also offered Remedial Services at the Spertus College.

Students

The large educational community is made up of approximately 55,000 students. Most of them (69%) are women and the other 30% are men. At the college there study 43% Black non-Hispanic, 1% Hispanic and 47% White non-Hispanic.

Jobs & Internship

Spertus is ready to offer its students employment places in the Specrus Institute. Besides Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies provide students with various internship opportunities. All necessary information may be found on the site of the Institute.
