Academics

The primary mission of Ohio Dominican University is to provide a wide range of graduate and undergraduate degree programs and continuing education programs for the intellectual development of each student. Educational experiences are grounded in the liberal arts. The University fosters the development of spiritual, aesthetic, and ethical values, promotes physical and mental health, and provides for the development and responsible use of human skills and talents in professional and social service. The University also offers non-credit programs and activities on and off campus to further the lifelong education of the Columbus civic and religious communities.

Athletics

Ohio Dominican University demonstrates progressive improvement to athletic facilities with the addition of Panther Field. The field has a seating capacity of 1 750 with a 42-foot press box located at the top of the home bleachers. There are also six regulation size tennis courts complete with lights. Students have the opportunity to become members of football, lacrosse, menís and womenís soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball teams.

Campus

All full-time students are required to live on campus if at the beginning of the academic year they have completed less than 56 credit hours, if they are not living with a parent/guardian within 40 miles, and are a freshman or sophomore receiving an athletic scholarship, regardless of home address. The campus dining room, Hamilton Hall, features all-you-can-eat soup, salad, entrees and desserts, three times a day. The Dining Services of Ohio Dominican University has worked hard to design a meal program guaranteed to meet students' individual needs. Menus are designed to provide flexibility, variety, and freshness to diverse student population while at the same time incorporating mid-west comfort foods. All motor vehicles, including motorcycles, parked on campus must be registered with the Public Safety Department. To purchase a permit A students must have own ODU ID Number, address where he will reside during the acadmic year, vehicle license plate number and description. All parking permits are the property of ODU and must be returned upon request.

Facilities

All residence options are convenient to campus resources, such as the library, tutoring or study groups, as well as multiple computer labs and study rooms located throughout campus.

Health & Safety

Health Services is open to all students requiring primary care, assessment, evaluation, and treatment options. There is no cost for services, supplies, cold care kits or over-the-counter medications. Health Services offers: a registered nurse, a nurse practitioner, athletic physicals, allergy injections, TB screening and testing for Group A Streptococcus, Infections Mononucleosis, Influenza A+B. Safety Services include: a security escort, six outside emergency phones located throughout campus, lost and found, vehicle assistance. Uniformed Public Safety Officers patrol the campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Students

At Ohio Dominican University students are welcome to such oragnizational: Council for Exceptional Children, Delta Sigma Pi, Kappa Delta Pi (Education Honor Society), Math & Computer Information Systems (MCIS), Club Model United Nations, Palette Club, Philosophy Club, Psychology Club, Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), Sigma Tau Delta, Social Work Action Task Force, Sport Management Society, St. Albert's Society, Tau Pi Phi (Business Honor Society). There are also multicultural, performance, political, religious and social organizations. Student Government is responsible for representing the concerns of the student body and acting as a liaison between students, student organizations, faculty, and the administration of the University. Student Governmentís membership includes 32 student representatives.

Location

All students who have earned less than 56 credits at the beginning of the year and feel they meet the requirements to live with a parent/guardian must complete a Housing Exemption Form, and be approved to live off campus. Students must live at the same address with either one or both of their parents/legal guardians at their permanent address for the entirety of the semester for which the student has been exempted. Nightlife of Columbus attracts students with numerous cinemas, dance clubs and concerts.

Alumni & Post-Grad

Alumni of Ohio Dominican stay connected and keep in touch with the Ohio Dominican Community through the website. They keep up with campus news and events, alumni events, faculty updates, and maintain contact with classmates and friends.

Jobs & Internship

Ohio Dominican University's Career Development Center service permits students and alumni to search for available full-time and part-time positions and internship opportunities. The Career Development Center provides individual career guidance and job/internship placement resources and advising. This includes self assessment, career exploration and planning, graduate school information, resume and cover letter critique, interview skill development, advising on job search strategies and employment resources.
