Founded in 1933 by the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, Rivier College is a Catholic institution of higher education dedicated to transforming hearts and minds to serve the world. Rivier College offers undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs in the liberal arts and professional courses of study. The College is committed to the faith heritage, intellectual tradition, and social teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. It educates the whole person in the context of an academic community that cultivates critical thought, respect for all people and sound judgment. This community supports the intellectual growth of all its members while offering them opportunities for social, cultural, moral, and spiritual development.


Rivier College offers intercollegiate sports: Women's volleyball, field hockey, lacrosse, basketball, softball, cross-country, soccer; Men's baseball, basketball, cross-country, lacrosse, soccer, volleyball. Athletic teams compete in NCAA Division III and are a member of the Great Northeast Atlantic Conference (GNAC).


Rivier houses more than 400 undergraduate students in four residence halls. There are a limited number of spaces for graduate students. All undergraduate students are eligible to live on campus. Students live in single, double, or triple rooms in residence halls. The rooms in each hall are very similar. Rivier's newest residence hall features suites. The new hall provides comfortable campus living and a unique social environment. In the typical residence hall students will find beds, desks, chairs, dresser, and closets, one telephone extension with voice mail, 2-3 internet connections, flame retardant curtains, kitchenettes with a stove, oven, toaster, lounges equipped with a television, full cable, VCR, and DVD player, laundry facilities. Most furniture is adjustable; no cinderblocks or homemade lofts allowed. Rivier College offers a dining program complete with signature brands and menu selections that include just about every item students can imagine. Commuters have the option to purchase a 25-block meal plan each semester at a cost of $75. All commuters, full-time and part-time, are eligible to take advantage of discounted, cash-free purchases at the campus dining hall and food kiosks. Students are able to park in specifically marked commuter lots on-campus. They must register their cars with Campus Safety to receive a parking sticker. Rivier College students, staff, and faculty can use Nashua Transit busses for free. They must simply present their Rivier ID card to the transit driver when they board the bus.


Rivier College features Education Center, laboratories for: Biology, Chemistry/Physics/Nursing, Computers, Imaging, Psychology, Video, and Writing, BAE Student Research Lab, the Academic Computer Center. Students also have online access to 59 licensed databases in virtually every academic subject. The resources of the Regina Library and Educational Resource Center include 91 000 volumes and access to more than three million volumes in 12 area libraries.

Health & Safety

Staff at Sr. Mary Anne Quibin Student Health Services are committed to keeping students healthy by serving the whole individual: physical, psychological, and spiritual. Services include: - Diagnosis/treatment/referral for common acute health problems - Health education and referral - STD testing and referral - Assistance with management of chronic health issues - Referral to Nashua area medical specialists - Immunizations (as available) - Assistance with insurance referrals and claims applications process - Basic lab services such as: rapid strep testing, rapid mono testing, urine testing. The Public Safety Office maintains the campus as a safe and pleasant place in which to live, study and work. Public Safety personnel conduct foot, bicycle and vehicle patrols of the main campus and College areas. Patrols are maintained 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, on a year round basis.


Student Activities and Orientation Office offers various educational, recreational, social and entertainment programs and services. There are nearly 20 active clubs that appeal to a variety of interests. Among them they are: the Student Government Association, Biology Club, Business Student Association, Cheerleading, Rivier College Dance Team, Habitat for Humanity, Model United Nations, Multicultural Student Organization, Rivier Fine Arts Society, Outdoor Club, Psychology Club, and more.


If students would like to rent a house or apartment in the area, they should check with the Office of Student Development in the Dion Center for a current list of available off-campus housing. This list is provided as a service to neighbors who want to rent space and to students who are looking for college-friendly landlords.

Alumni & Post-Grad

All Rivier College graduates become members of the Alumni Association. Through the Rivier College Alumni Association, which is governed by the Alumni Council, Rivier provides numerous services to more than 15 000 alumni around the world. Rivier College works to ensure that the relationships built during a studentís time continue for a lifetime. The Association encourages alumni, parents, and friends to be an ongoing part of the College community.

Jobs & Internship

The Career Development Center (CDC) encourages Rivier College students and alumni to meet with one of professional career advisors for individual assistance with career or major planning, internship options, job search information, and graduate school exploration. The Career Development team helps students and graduates explore continued studies, create resumes/cover letters/portfolios, search job listings, utilize effective job search techniques, learn the power of networking, develop Interview skills, locate career fairs and events.
