Academics

Academic Services of Port Huron campus is committed to helping students reach their educational goals. No matter whether students are in pursuit of a degree, taking a class or two for self improvement or getting job training, after attending St. Clair County Community College they will have the skills necessary to go farther. Professors offer a combination of knowledge and real-world experience that creates a dynamic learning environment.

Athletics

Office of Athletics and Campus Activities offers a non-classroom learning environment that prepares students to be leaders in the complex and ever-changing world. On Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Web sites students may find updates on Volleyball, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Softball, Golf, and Baseball standings, scores and awards. Besides students are offered summer camps for young athletes. These camps are held locally on the downtown Port Huron campus and at Sanborn Park in Port Huron. Students are also offered an Athletic insurance. Students-athletes is required to have a physical examination and complete the form below, including signatures, prior to any practice or participation in any intercollegiate sport.

Campus

The main 25-acre Campus of St. Clair County Community College is in downtown Port Huron. Parking place for students is available at no charge in the large lot adjacent to the College Center. Besides paid parking is available at city operated facilities nearby. Some areas of the College Center lot and the entire lot at the Main Building are reserved for faculty and staff. Those parking illegally (including fire lanes and unauthorized handicap usage) will be ticketed or towed by College Campus Patrol personnel or city, county, or state police agencies. Students are also offered dining options. They may have meal at bistro at lower prices.

Facilities

Library in the College Center provides a friendly and comfortable atmosphere for research, study and learning. Students have access to over 65,000 items which include circulating, reference, periodical, audiovisual materials and the Internet. Students who are enrolled have access to computers in the Library and in the Achievement Center. They may be required to display their library cards upon request of a staff member as proof of enrollment. All computers are to be used to support research and education for the College’s curriculum and may be used for papers and other homework assignments. At St Clair County Community College the use of the Internet is considered a privilege, not a right. Hence all students desiring access to the Internet must abide by the College's acceptable use policy and be properly authorized to use the Internet. Improper use may result in cancellation of use of the computers and the Internet. Library numbers approximately 3,700 videos and DVDs that have been acquired to supplement the curriculum at the college and improve learning. All materials are available for viewing within the Library on video and DVD players.

Health & Safety

Campus Patrol and Security team provides a number of services to students and staff as the following: - initial emergency response until 911 responders arrive - help with vehicle problems - escort service to car or classroom Besides at the College there were upgraded lighting and installed new technologies to further enhance safety campus wide: - security cameras - new, professionally engineered lighting system - emergency call boxes Students have also an opportunity to arrange health insurance through American College Student Association or E.J. Smith and Associates that provides coverage for both domestic and international students.

Students

Students at St. Clair County Community College Campus have an opportunity to become a member of numerous organizations and clubs. These organizations and clubs put together students interested in various issues for deciding serious questions of just for fun. Students may become members of Computer Information Security Club, Drama Club, Erie Square Gazette, Gay-Straight Alliance, Zombie Defense Council and many more.

Alumni & Post-Grad

Graduates of St. Clair County Community College, current and former students, and friends of the college are invited to join the SC4 Alumni Association. They are invited to take part in numerous events organized for alumni and friends. Alumni Association is accepting nominations for its Distinguished Alumni of the Year award. And later during annual meeting the winner of the 2010-11 Distinguished Alumni of the Year award will be announced. Besides during this event attendees will have a chance to network with other alumni and community members.

Jobs & Internship

The Student Success Center can assist students in making career decisions and plans that will relate their interests, abilities, values, and personalities to their career goal. Students have access to career assessments and print and computer-based resources used to assess their interests, identify their options, explore career areas and educational choices, and assess occupational information. Resources for career planning include computerized career planning systems, inventories, and other self-exploration programs.
