• AP courses are an important indicator of a student's willingness to go beyond the standard curriculum and take challenging courses. At Elon, we recalculate the core GPA for the admissions decision, and AP scores get additional weighting. This, in turn, improves a student's GPA, giving direct evidence to our belief that one letter grade lower in an AP course is better than a higher grade in a standard course.
