From the college:
Hamilton College has an SAT-1 optional testing policy. Basically, in place of the SAT-1 composite test score, a student can provide us three different test scores, choosing from the SAT-1, SAT-2's and AP scores. As long as a student gives us one verbal or writing test, one quantitative test and one test of their choice, they have fulfilled our requirement. Related to AP's, a student can submit AP scores for any or all of those tests. We leave placement decisions to each individual department, so there are some differences depending on the test that has been taken. In general, students receive credit for test scores of a 4 or a 5. In order to receive AP credit, a student must take a departmentally approved Hamilton course and pass with the minimum grade stipulated by the department. A student may not receive credit toward a degree solely on the basis of a score on an Advanced Placement Exam. The AP policy can be found in our college catalogue.
