Advanced Placement Program® (AP) Information
AP Credit and Placement Policy
Offers credit for AP Exams:Yes
Offers placement into higher-level courses for AP Exams: Yes
From the college:
Our decision of whether or not to give AP credit for a specific course or subject area is based on whether or not the material covered in that class is truly equivalent to that of a Stanford course. This varies from subject to subject.
Want detailed information about this college's AP policy?
Stanford asks that high school students select a challenging course load from among the most difficult courses offered at their schools. We do this not because we want students to get a head start on getting college credits "out of the way," but because we believe that the best indicator of success in our rigorous curriculum is success in a rigorous high school course load. Most of these rigorous high school course loads will include AP classes, because AP classes are the way in which most high schools offer rigor. Some students, however, come from high schools that offer equally rigorous courses that are not taught to the AP test and do not carry the AP designation. Either way, what we care about is the preparation students receive and the level of challenge in which they have been engaged, not the official designation or title of the course.
College-Level Examinations Program® (CLEP) Information
