Program:

Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems locations offer a number of internship opportunities for college students.

Eligibility. Most of the internships are of a technical nature and are best suited to students majoring in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, and other, related curricula. There is a limited number of non-technical internship opportunities for majors in fields such as Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Communications and International Relations. Internship applicants must have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0. However, the majority of candidates selected have at least a 3.5/4.0 or above.

The department or functional group to which the intern is assigned develops an internship plan, taking into account the intern's academic background, interests, maturity and other needs. In many cases, the intern will work with an experienced/senior employee, who will provide guidance and assistance on a specific project or task. In other cases, interns work independently on a specific problem or effort with staff oversight and assistance.

Interns receive feedback on an ongoing basis, and usually receive a formal evaluation at the end of their internship. The majority of Electronic Systems internship opportunities occur during the summer months (May through August).

Part-time internships and co-ops during the school year typically only occur as an extension of a summer assignment or as a special program with a specific university. Any special programs of this nature would be coordinated and publicized through the university career center at that particular school.

Interns are considered casual employees hired for a specific, pre-determined period of time and paid on an hourly basis. Most internships are full-time, or up to forty (40) hours per-week. We have competitive salaries, and a limited amount of housing and relocation assistance may be available for interns coming from out-of-state.
